2025 Urbandale 4th of July Celebration Bags Tournament

 

July 4th
5pm at Lions Park

This is a doubles event and is a double elimination bracketless tournament. Teams are guaranteed two “best 2 out of 3” games in the tournament. Awards will be given to top teams in both divisions.

TOURNAMENT INFORMATION:

Divisions: If you’re not sure which division your team belongs in, please don’t hesitate to ask the tournament director! There will be 2 separate divisions with different levels of play:

  • Sparklers (Recreational, max 32 teams) – Do you love to play a game of cornhole at a backyard cookout or party? This is your division!

NOTE: any team may enter this division; however, this division is designed for more casual players and “sandbagging” is discouraged.

  • Bottle Rockets (Competitive, max 8 teams) – Do you regularly play cornhole in a league or in competitive tournaments? This is your division!

NOTE: any team may enter this division; however, entrants should expect a
more competitive level of play.

Format:

  • The format of the tournament is a preliminary round followed by single elimination (guaranteed 2 “best two out of three” matches) . Teams will be randomly paired within their division for their first match and will be paired for their second match based on their first match results, then randomly until winners are declared. Teams will only play within their division.

Scoring:

  • Games will be scored to 21 WITHOUT any “bust” rules in affect. This means the first team to 21 will be declared the winner EVEN IF they exceed 21 points.

Time: 5:00 until finish Thursday July 4, 2025 (plan on at least 2 hours, but could be longer for teams that advance in the tournament). Check-in begins at 4:15 pm and players meeting at 4:50pm to go over rules.

Location: Lions Park Pickleball Courts.

Cost:

  • The cost of participation has been lowered to:
    • $15/team – Sparklers (Recreational) division
    • $20/team – Bottlerockets (Competitive) division

Registration Information: Register here. Day of event registration will also be available on a first come first served basis until the maximum number of teams is reached.

Other Information: Lawn chairs strongly encouraged and a canopy (there will be limited shaded areas) if available. Water will be provided. Outside food and beverage allowed and also available for purchase near the tournament area.
